Value-Based Accreditation
Definition of Value-Based Accreditation
Value-based accreditation refers to the evaluation of an educational institution to determine whether it has met the quality standards established by the accrediting body in the areas of educational values and behavioral practices. It is a continuous process aimed at ensuring compliance with the standards and indicators, identifying strengths and areas for improvement, and enhancing performance across various aspects of the institution's educational and value-driven practices.
Procedures for Applying for Accreditation
- The institution submits a formal application to the Value-Based Accreditation Company (VBAC), signed by its management, expressing its desire to obtain value-based accreditation.
- VBAC sends a copy of the accreditation application file to the institution seeking accreditation.
- The institution submits or uploads the completed accreditation application file to VBAC, including:
- The institution’s vision and mission.
- A value-based self-assessment study.
- A continuous improvement plan.
- Upon acceptance of the application and file, the institution must pay the accreditation application fee as determined by VBAC.
- VBAC notifies the institution of the review team members and their visit schedule, including a one-day coordination visit by the team leader and a full team field visit for two or three days, depending on the institution's size.
- The review team prepares an evaluation report summarizing the results, which is delivered to the institution's management within 15 days of completing the field visit.
- The institution is informed of the evaluation results within 30 days of completing the field visit, with one of the following outcomes:
- The institution is granted a certificate of value-based accreditation, confirming it meets the required standards.
- If certain standards are unmet, the institution receives a detailed report outlining the areas requiring improvement, with a maximum period of three months to address these issues. VBAC will then reassess the specified areas and issue a final decision on granting or denying accreditation.
- If the initial evaluation reveals significant gaps or if the institution fails to meet the required standards after an additional grace period, VBAC will decide not to grant accreditation.
- Institutions that are not accredited may reapply after one year from the date of VBAC’s decision.
- Institutions achieving Level 3 accreditation are awarded a value-based accreditation certificate valid for three years, while those achieving Level 4 accreditation receive a certificate valid for five years.
- During the validity of the accreditation certificate, the institution is subject to periodic monitoring and review through VBAC visits or annual self-reports submitted by the institution.
- If follow-up reviews reveal that the accredited institution no longer meets the required standards, VBAC reserves the right to suspend or revoke accreditation and will notify the institution within 15 days of the decision, including the reasons for it.
- The institution has the right to appeal a decision to deny, suspend, or revoke accreditation within 15 days of notification. VBAC will form a committee, chaired by the institution's director or their delegate, to review the appeal and provide a final decision within 15 days of receiving the appeal.
- Accreditation renewal follows the same procedures and standards as initial accreditation, with an additional evaluation of the progress made by the institution since the last accreditation.
